Common issues and fixes

The app crashes on launch or freezes unexpectedly
First, force-quit the app by swiping it away in the app switcher, then relaunch. If the problem persists, restart your iPhone. Make sure you are running iOS 16 or later and that ScanPro is updated to the latest version from the App Store. If the issue continues, contact us with your device model and iOS version.
OCR text extraction is inaccurate or returns blank results
OCR accuracy depends heavily on scan quality. Ensure the document is well-lit, flat, and fully in frame before capturing. Hold the camera steady and let auto-focus complete. For best results, use the camera scan mode instead of importing low-resolution photos. On-device processing requires iOS 16 or later.
My scanned PDF is not saving or exporting correctly
Check that you have sufficient storage space on your device. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to confirm. If you are exporting to iCloud Drive, verify that iCloud Drive is enabled in Settings > your name > iCloud. Try restarting the app and exporting again. If the issue persists, email us with details of the export destination you are trying to use.
The camera is not detecting document edges automatically
Automatic edge detection works best on documents placed on a contrasting background — for example, a white page on a dark desk. Ensure there is adequate lighting and that no shadows are falling across the document. You can also manually adjust the crop corners after capture by dragging the corner handles.
I purchased a feature but it is not unlocking
Tap the restore purchases button in the app's settings or in-app purchase screen. This re-validates your purchase with Apple. Ensure you are signed into the same Apple ID used for the original purchase. If the issue persists after restoring, email us at support@scanprodocs.app with your Apple ID receipt and we will resolve it promptly.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete a scanned document?
In the document list, swipe left on any document to reveal the delete option, or tap the document to open it and use the trash icon in the toolbar. Deleted documents are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
Can I share my documents to other apps?
Yes. Open any document and tap the share icon. You can export to Mail, Messages, Files, Dropbox, Google Drive, AirDrop, and any app that accepts PDF files via the standard iOS share sheet.
Is my data backed up if I lose my phone?
If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, your ScanPro documents are included in your iCloud Backup. You can also enable iCloud Drive sync within the app to keep a live copy of your library in iCloud.
